The mountain

Pico de Loro688 m

Pico de Loro is a dormant volcano on the Cavite-Batangas border and, at 688 m, Cavite's highest mountain and the top of the Mounts Palay-Palay-Mataas-na-Gulod Protected Landscape. Spanish sailors who saw a parrot there named it Parrot's Peak; its rock tower, the Parrot's Beak or Monolith, has been closed to climbers since September 2016, and the views reach the South China Sea and Corregidor. Closed indefinitely from 1 October 2016, it reopened in January 2023 under the PAMB on a new trail, and hikes now need an online booking and a guide, with no walk-ins and no overnight camping.
