The mountain

Mt. Kitanglad2,899 m

Mt. Kitanglad, at about 2,899 m the fourth-highest mountain in the Philippines, is an inactive volcano in Bukidnon's Kitanglad Mountain Range, between Malaybalay, Libona, Sumilao, Impasug-ong and Lantapan. It is ancestral land of the Higaonon, Talaandig and Bukidnon peoples, and its name comes from a flood legend in which the peak looked like lemongrass (tanglad). Protected as the Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park under RA 8978 of 2000 and an ASEAN Heritage Park since 2009, it is where the Philippine eagle nests, and its summit carries relay stations and bunkhouses with power.
