A two-day climb of Mt. Amuyao from Sitio Macalana in Barlig: an overnight bus from Manila, a long first day up to the Barlig viewpoint and the summit camp beside the bunker, and the descent the next morning. The summit is about six hours from the jump-off.

Timetable

  1. The night before

    1. 20:00Meet up in Manila (Cubao or Dimasalang) between 8:00 and 9:00 PM.
    2. 22:00Depart on the overnight bus toward Banaue or Bontoc.

  2. Day 1

    1. 07:00Arrive in Banaue and have breakfast.
    2. 09:00Rent a jeep from Banaue to Barlig.
    3. 09:30Register at the Barlig municipal hall or tourism office and at Brgy. Macalana, and secure guides.
    4. 11:00Arrive at Sitio Macalana jump-off and have lunch.
    5. 12:00Start the trek, passing Mt. Alemmona and Mt. Polis on the way.
    6. 16:00Reach the Barlig viewpoint (about 2,400 m) and Camp 1, which has a spring, between 4:00 and 5:00 PM.
    7. 17:00Reach the summit between 5:00 and 6:00 PM and set up camp beside the bunker.
    8. 19:00Dinner at camp.

  3. Day 2

    1. 07:00Wake up for sunrise, then breakfast.
    2. 08:00Break camp and start the descent.
    3. 09:45Pass the Barlig viewpoint.
    4. 12:00Reach the jump-off and have lunch.
    5. 13:00Ride a jeep to Bontoc or Banaue.
    6. 17:30Take a bus from Banaue back to Manila (buses leave between 5:30 and 8:00 PM).
