The usual plan from Manila: bus and ferry to Mindoro, van to Paluan, a courtesy registration, then a tricycle to Sitio Ulasan. The trek climbs forest to a viewdeck and on to a basecamp with water before the summit push. The top is about 5.5 hours away, and a one-night stay is typical.

Timetable

  1. Day 1

    1. 00:00Take the bus from Manila to Batangas Pier (₱146).
    2. 04:00Board the ferry to Abra de Ilog (₱156).
    3. 06:30Arrive at Abra de Ilog; take a van to Paluan (₱150).
    4. 09:00Arrive in Paluan; register at the municipal hall as a courtesy call and take a tricycle to Sitio Ulasan.
    5. 10:00Start the trek at Sitio Ulasan, up steep forest.
    6. 13:00Reach Sam's viewdeck (745 m); lunch and rest.
    7. 14:00Arrive at the basecamp, which has a water source, about an hour past the viewdeck.
    8. 14:30Start the summit assault on light packs.
    9. 16:00Reach the summit.
    10. 18:00Back at the basecamp.
    11. 18:30Dinner and socials.

  2. Day 2

    1. 06:00Wake-up call and breakfast.
    2. 07:00Break camp.
    3. 08:00Start the descent.
    4. 10:30Back at the village; head to Calawagan resort.
    5. 11:00Bathe at the river or pool and tidy up.
    6. 12:00Take a van to Abra de Ilog.
    7. 16:00Board the ferry to Batangas.
    8. 18:30Arrive at Batangas Pier; take a bus to Manila.
    9. 21:00Back in Manila.
