Mt. Kanlaon via Wasay Trail: 3D2N or 4D3N itinerary

From Murcia · Wasay up, Guintubdan down

A three- to four-day crossing of Mt. Kanlaon, up the Wasay trail from Mambucal and down the Guintubdan trail. Camp spots vary, so the order of stops matters more than the day split: river and forest on the Wasay side, the old camp area and lagoons, the Margaha ridge and crater area, then Rancho Dos and the Guintubdan station.

Timetable

  1. Day 1

    1. 05:00Breakfast at Mambucal Resort, where the Wasay trail starts (reached the day before by jeep or minibus from Bacolod).
    2. 06:00Start the trek and register at the Wasay entrance to the national park (6:00 to 6:30 AM).
    3. 10:00Follow the private road and cross a river several times; reach the river area and its water source.
    4. 11:00Lunch at the giant tree.
    5. 15:00Arrive at Harding Sang Balo, the old camp, and set up camp.
    6. 17:30Dinner and socials.

  2. Day 2

    1. 06:00Breakfast.
    2. 07:00Break camp and resume the trek.
    3. 09:00Pass the crater lagoons such as Samoc and PMS; refill water at the lagoons.
    4. 12:00Reach the outer rim of Margaha Valley for snacks or a light lunch.
    5. 13:00Follow the outer rim, a dangerous ridge, to the campsite below the summit.
    6. 15:00Arrive at the campsite and explore the summit area.
    7. 17:30Back at camp.
    8. 18:00Dinner.

  3. Day 3

    1. 06:00Breakfast.
    2. 07:00Descend the Guintubdan trail.
    3. 10:00Rest at Rancho Dos and refill water.
    4. 12:00Arrive at the Guintubdan station; tidy up and have lunch.
    5. 14:00Take the last trip to La Carlota City on the way to Bacolod.
    6. 17:00Arrive in Bacolod City.
