Bud Dajo

Also called Bud Daho, Mt. Dajo

In Talipao

Height
650 m

Bud Dajo, also spelled Daho, is a mountain in Talipao, Sulu, sacred to the Tausug and the site of many battles, including the First Battle of Bud Dajo in 1906. One of its several trails starts at Lower Laus: mostly steep but forested all the way, reaching the crater rim in about an hour and a half. The crater, site of the battle, is marked with commemorative signs, and a wooden bench marks the highest point beside a disused military outpost. Hikes have been arranged through local contacts with the support of the army brigade in the area, starting with a courtesy call at its headquarters.
