Makawiwili Peak

In City of Canlaon

Makawiwili Peak is one of Mt. Kanlaon's peaks and an excellent vantage point. It is the first stop on the Mapot trail from Sitio Mapot, Brgy. Maiba, Canlaon City, where hikers camp on the first day before the trek to the saddle and the crater.

Closed to hikers. About 2 km from Kanlaon's summit, inside its 4 km Permanent Danger Zone: PHIVOLCS keeps Kanlaon at Alert Level 2 and says entry into the zone should not be allowed (bulletin of 18 Oct 2026). (as of Oct 25)
