Mt. Palemlem, also known as Pico de Loro Norte, rises at Luzon's northern edge, its summit in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. It is climbed from Sitio Maligligay in Adams through dense tropical forest, rocky, steep and slippery in parts, with leeches and thorns. After three or four hours the trees open to views of the coast. The summit camp is a small cleared patch on one of its twin peaks, looking out to the Bangui windmills and the beaches of Pagudpud. There is signal at the summit but no water source.
No one has reported whether it’s open. Check with the local office before you go.
