Mt. Sangun is a 936 m peak in Fukuoka Prefecture, the highest in the Sangun Mountains. Its summit lies in Iizuka, on the boundary with Umi and Chikushino. The peak is part of the Kyushu Nature Trail, and a ridge path links it with Mt. Homan to the south. On a clear day the view reaches Fukuoka city to the west and the Genkai Sea to the north. Radar and communications installations stand on top, and a locked paved management road from Chikushino keeps ordinary vehicles from reaching the summit.

No one has reported whether it’s open. Check with the local office before you go.

Kamado Jinja–Homan–Sangun Ridge Trail

Twin hike via Mt. Homan. The hike towards Mt. Homan was an endless stairs master of high rocks and logs. Steep ladder climb to the Homan peak and scrambling downwards. The hike from Homan to Sangun was fun and trail run-able.
